Beverly A. Hillman

Beverly Ann Hillman, age 73 of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 9, 2016 in her daughter’s home in Columbus, Ohio. She was born to the late Ruth and William Smith at 10:17 a.m. on March 22, 1943. Beverly attended Westinghouse High School where she was Secretary Class Officer of the class of 1961. Her favorite activities were Glee Club, Girl Friday, and football games. Beverly’s family and friends were her passion and delight. She often told her children about found memories while growing up in East Liberty with her cousins and attending school at Dilworth, Saint Peter and Paul, Peabody, and Westinghouse. Beverly’s favorite teachers were Sister Bernadette, Ms. Wagner, and Mr. Wells. Her favorite subjects were English, shorthand, typing, bookkeeping, and French. Beverly had a real zest for learning. Beverly retired from Bechtel Plant Apparatus, formerly known as Westinghouse very early in life. Beverly began her career at Westinghouse after graduating from Westinghouse High School in 1961. Beverly’s wishes were to spend as much time as she could with Family and Friends after retirement. She traveled quite often to Columbus, OH to help her daughter Kim and her family; she assisted her daughter Kelly and her family in Pittsburgh, PA; loved to attend baseball games and watch the Pirates win with her son David. Beverly also enjoyed spending time with friends at various luncheons, functions, and outings. She enjoyed traveling throughout the City of Pittsburgh on the public transportation system. Beverly is survived by her children Kimberly A. (Smith) Dent of Columbus OH, Kelly (Smith) Hamm of Pittsburgh, PA, David Hillman of Pittsburgh PA, grandchildren Kionna Oatneal, India Hamm, Chelsea Hamm, David Hamm, Jada Dent, Ronald (RJ) Dent, four great-grandchildren, and her younger brother William “Bilbo” Smith of Pittsburgh, PA. Beverly is preceded in death by her mother Ruth (Matthews) Smith, father William Smith and younger brother Larry (Pete) Smith. *We would like to give special thanks to a dear friend, Connie Reed. Because of you, our beloved mother was able to end her life peacefully and in comfort surrounded by family. You will always be a part of our family.
